Scan2Link Privacy Policy

Scan2Link helps people attending the same event find one another and open each other's public LinkedIn profiles. This policy explains what information Scan2Link processes, why it is needed, and the choices available to participants.

The short version: Participation is optional. Scan2Link uses event and profile information to create an event-specific connection wall. We do not sell personal information, run advertising, or send LinkedIn connection requests.

Information we collect

Depending on the event and the information you choose to provide, Scan2Link may process:

  • LinkedIn sign-in information: an application-specific LinkedIn account identifier, your name, profile picture, and primary email address when LinkedIn provides it.
  • Profile-card information: your public LinkedIn profile URL and your organization, school, or venture.
  • Event information: your event, assigned or selected group, selected sharing audience, participation status, consent record, and join or withdrawal time.
  • Technical and security information: session cookies, limited request logs, and audit records used to operate and protect the service.

Scan2Link does not receive or store your LinkedIn password. LinkedIn authentication occurs on LinkedIn's systems.

How we use information

We use this information to authenticate participants, prevent duplicate event accounts, create the profile card you approve, generate its LinkedIn QR code and clickable link, organize the wall by event group, honor withdrawal and event-closing controls, maintain security, and troubleshoot the service.

How information is shared

After you opt in, your name, profile picture, organization, group, public LinkedIn profile link, and profile QR code are displayed according to the audience you select: members of your event group only, or all authorized event participants. The in-person room display includes only cards shared with everybody.

We may use service providers for hosting, database storage, security, and technical operations. They process information only to provide those services. We may disclose information when legally required or when necessary to protect participants, the service, or others.

Scan2Link does not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a separate service with its own terms and privacy practices. Scan2Link uses LinkedIn OpenID Connect for sign-in. A LinkedIn access token is used only to retrieve approved sign-in information and is not displayed on the connection wall. Scan2Link does not send invitations, accept invitations, or connect members automatically.

Retention and deletion

Event-wall visibility ends when you withdraw or when the event closes. Event participation data is scheduled for deletion or de-identification within 30 days after the event closes, unless a longer period is reasonably necessary for security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. Actions taken independently on LinkedIn are controlled by LinkedIn and the LinkedIn members involved.

Your choices

  • You may decline to join the connection wall.
  • You may review your card before it is displayed.
  • You may correct your profile link, organization, or group.
  • You may change whether your card is shared with your group or with everybody at the event.
  • You may withdraw from the wall and request deletion of your Scan2Link event data.

Withdrawing from Scan2Link cannot reverse an action another person completed independently on LinkedIn.

Security

Scan2Link uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted transport, restricted administrative access, event-scoped visibility, secure authentication state, and signed sessions. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Age requirements

Scan2Link is not directed to children who are ineligible to maintain their own LinkedIn account. Event participants must satisfy LinkedIn's applicable minimum-age requirements and any additional requirements established by the event organizer.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes affecting an active event will be communicated through the event organizer or within Scan2Link.

Contact and privacy requests

To request access, correction, withdrawal, or deletion, contact the organizer of the event through which you received access to Scan2Link. The event organizer can verify the request and route it to Scan2Link.
